Vitamin B12 fills a role in the brain that nothing else can. It's needed to build myelin (the insulating layer around your nerve fibers that lets signals travel fast and accurately), to help produce neurotransmitters, and to clear out a potentially harmful amino acid called homocysteine.

Deficiency is more common than most people think, especially among people on plant-based diets and anyone on medications that interfere with absorption (check with your doctor!).

What B12 Does in the Brain

  • Builds myelin. This is B12's primary job. Myelin is the fatty insulation wrapped around nerve fibers that lets electrical signals move quickly and cleanly. When it breaks down, signals slow, misfire, or stop.
  • Supports neurotransmitters. B12 helps make acetylcholine (memory and learning) and the monoamines like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine (mood, motivation, and executive function).
  • Clears out a harmful leftover. Your body constantly makes homocysteine, an amino acid that's harmless in small amounts but damaging when it piles up. B12, working with B6 and folate, clears it by converting it into a safe form. When B12 is low, homocysteine builds up, and high levels are linked to brain shrinkage, cell and DNA damage, and the kind of decline you see in aging brains

Its Role in the Stack

B12 works with B6 and folate in the foundational process that touches everything from DNA regulation to neurotransmitter balance to clearing homocysteine. In a stack, B12 keeps that infrastructure running properly.

Blip's stack boosts dopamine, suppors acetylcholine, and ramps up neural signaling. But none of it lands unless the myelin around nerve fibers is intact enough to actually carry the signal. B12 is what keeps that insulation in good shape.
